What is it all about?

In the Johannesburg summit of 2002, sustainable development was defined as development which “meets the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Normally, we associate sustainability only with environmental issues.
HOWEVER: it is not that simple. There are two other aspects which need to be taken into consideration: economics and society. The graph below illustrates this interaction of the three pillars of sustainable development.

The focus of my PBoX lies on one of the neglected components, that is economic sustainability.

What is economic sustainability?

Having an innovative and lasting economy is a major goal for every country. On one hand, the economy should be able to keep up with the external environment (new trends, innovations) and on the other hand, it also has to take into consideration the internal environment, such as resources and other limitations, to be able to sustain.
